BARRATT West Midlands signed a £1,500 cheque on the dotted line for local charity, Acorns Children’s Hospice recently, after staff and suppliers dug deep in aid of the charity’s Fragile Lives Appeal.
Proceeds from the raffle and auction held at the housebuilder’s head office in Halesowen have been donated to the charity which helps families and children affected by life limiting conditions.
Staff turned out their pockets for the raffle and auction of the prizes, which were generously donated by Barratt’s suppliers. And all the money collectively raised will help to make a real difference to people’s lives across the Midlands.
The Acorns Fragile Lives Appeal - securing the future of children’s hospice care across the Heart of England – sees Acorns supporters doing all they can to raise vital funds and awareness for Acorns.
It aims to see Acorns through the current recession and protect its vital care and support services for the future, services that help 600 life limited children and their families.
Nazama Azmat, Acorns’ Community Fundraiser in the Black Country, said, “This is a fantastic amount of money that has been kindly raised by all the staff at Barratt West Midlands. Every penny counts at Acorns, and £1,500 will help us to continue our vital services helping families. We have to fundraise for over 80 per cent of our income and we rely on companies and individuals for financial help.
“I would really like to thank everyone who took part – it is great to see a company offering support like this in their local community.”

Credit also goes to our Accounts Clerk, Giulietta Davies who co-ordinated the event, asking suppliers for their donations and drumming up support around the office.
“Acorns is a local charity which struck a chord with many of our staff, so we had a few people requesting that the proceeds go to it. It’s a really worthy cause offering specialised nursing and support services which are a lifeline to the children and families affected by life limiting illness.”
