Buying a first home is made easy by Barratt

Buying a first home can seem like a confusing time, but this weekend, Barratt Northampton is inviting potential purchasers to its Greenkeepers Mews development, where visitors could find out just how easy it could be to buy a new home.

The first-step road show will be calling at Barratt Northampton’s Greenkeepers Mews development on Greenkeepers Road in Bedford, this Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November, where confused purchasers can receive some helpful advice.

Following a successful road show in August this year, where 30 reservations were taken at Barratt’s developments throughout the South Midlands, the housebuilder is delighted to be offering potential homebuyers a further chance to get a foot onto the property ladder.

Paul Walker, Sales Director for Barratt Northampton commented, “Buying a home for the first time can seem like a daunting task, but it really doesn’t have to be, which is why we have designed this first-step road show. It has been specifically designed for those who are thinking about buying a new home, but who are not sure if they can afford to do so.

“Following a successful road show in August, we are once again inviting homebuyers to come along to Greenkeepers Mews this weekend between 11am and 6pm, where visitors will be able to find out just how affordable home ownership could be.

“Our trained sales advisors will be on hand to talk visitors through any part of the home buying process, whilst an independent mortgage advisor will also be available to give free, impartial financial advice.

“Home hunters will also have the chance to find out more about the HomeBuy Direct scheme which allows eligible purchasers to move into a brand new home for just 70 per cent of the price. This means that a two-bedroom apartment, priced at £139,999, could be purchased for an initial outlay of just £97,999.

“This is an outstanding price for the Bedford area and means that people may find that they are able to afford the home of their dreams without overstretching their budget.

“So why not come along to our first-step road show and find out just how affordable home ownership could be.”

HomeBuy Direct is open to first-time buyers, key workers and others who are currently renting. People who have previously owned a home but are now unable to do so – perhaps where relationships have broken down – can also apply.

Households eligible will be earning less than £60,000 and would not normally be able to afford to buy a suitable property on the open market. There is no interest to pay on the equity stake for the first five years, although a small fee will be charged from year six onwards.

Buyers can redeem the loan in instalments, purchasing up to 100 per cent of the equity after their initial purchase by buying additional equity at the market rate. Alternatively, if they sell their home, the equity loan is repaid by way of a proportionate share of the sale proceeds.

David Edwards, regional director for the South East division of the Homes and Communities Agency, said: “In the current climate it’s important that we help a range of people to find the best housing option to suit them, and simultaneously help stimulate the building of new homes. HomeBuy Direct, with our £400 million investment, is just one way in which we’re doing this and it is proving extremely popular.”

Greenkeepers Mews offers a selection of two-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom houses priced from £230,749. For more information please contact the sales office on 07739 702 542 open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 6pm. Alternatively, please call the sales hotline on 01605 664 545
