EMPLOYEE ACES BARRATT GRAND SLAM

A Barratt Mercia Contracts Chaser recently won Barratt Group’s Employee of the Year Award out of 8,000 employees at the company.

Sally Badger first netted top employee accolades for her division and region, before she was named winner, ahead of five other contenders who were nominated to attend the final at Birmingham’s Metropole Hotel recently.

Born and bred in Solihull, 36-year-old Sally has been with the company since January 2004. She originally worked as PA to the Managing Director, but her aptitude for sales did not go unnoticed and once Sally moved into the field, she quickly became irreplaceable to her division.

Sally’s first love is tennis – her talents stretch onto the court, where she has coached all ages, including children in the Birmingham Area Squads and has played in singles tournaments, as well as the National Club League.

She said, “In some respects, my tennis is like my job as Contracts Chaser, I just get stuck in and get on with it – for both you have to be a good all rounder and a good tactician, which involves forward planning and organisation.

“When I won the Employee of the Year Award, it was totally unexpected and I was shocked when they called my name, but I was so honoured that my employers value me that much to place me above 8,000 others at the company.”

Every day at Barratt is different for Sally, but above all she always relishes the challenges her job brings. She added, “I never dread my work – it is very busy, but good and I love dealing with investors and the customers who come through direct to me, because this gives me the opportunity to try and make a sale to help the company in what is currently a difficult financial climate.”

Chris Ashmore, Sales Director for Barratt Mercia, said, “My congratulations go to Sally on her award. To be the divisional or regional winner is a big achievement in itself, but it is fantastic that she has been named Barratt Group Employee of the Year and she should be very proud of that.

“Sally constantly gives 100 per cent and it is this level of commitment that we look for in our employees. I hope this is an encouragement to others within our division that good work and a great attitude will not go unnoticed.”
