It is fair to say that new-build bungalows are rare in the property market today and this is what Mr and Mrs Creasey found as they searched for their ideal home in Oakley Vale, Corby.
Having moved to the area over two years ago, being drawn by the impressive regeneration plans, the couple settled for a traditional two-storey, four bedroom home.
But their desire for bungalow living was still high, and when the couple noticed a collection of Barratt Northampton bungalows being built at Oakley Meadows, they were quick to move.
Jackie, an office manager for a recycling facility in Kettering, said: “We wanted to downsize and needed a home for the future. Bungalows have the space, and because they are on one level, are easy to maintain.”
When Barratt launched a show bungalow, the couple were both impressed with the layout, particularly the living/dining room.
Brian, a Corby based undertaker, said: “Our main criteria was the lounge, it has plenty of room for entertaining family and friends.”
After appreciating the space available, the couple bought a three-bedroom Carlyle style, and moved in during May this year.
Now the couple are in their dream home, they can begin to focus on the wider benefits around them.
Jackie said: “There’s so much happening in Corby now – new shopping centre, swimming pool and a train station – it’s great to be a part of it all.”
