If you ever needed convincing as to how good ‘Coach house’ living is – then listen to Carl Fountain who bought a two-bedroom style from Barratt Northampton.
The housebuilder has just two of these designs remaining at Regency Court in Rushden, and as Carl says: “They are a good use of space.”
A coach house home is when an apartment is built over a mix of garages, a carport or a drive through.
Because it is not part of a traditional apartment building, they offer a unique home. Carl explained: “As this is the only apartment, you have a detached and exclusive feel.
“And because it spans the full width of four garages, there’s plenty of space and it feels roomier than a traditional two-storey home. I looked at many houses before buying this, and the kitchen rivals that you would find in three bedroom properties.
“I have a busy social life and love entertaining, and the space works really well. Last Christmas I had eight people for lunch in the dining area.
“As for the storage, it’s excellent. Along with a cupboard in the landing and bedroom two, the apartment includes a garage, with an additional store – it’s a great bonus.
“And of course I have my own private entrance. Coach house living offers a good design and a clever use of space.”
