With four children living at home, Jo and Andrew Colclough needed more space, and a location that offered a peaceful setting, whilst having excellent access to nearby towns.
The couple were previously living in the picturesque village of Great Bowden and heard about Barratt Northampton’s The Grange in Desborough.
Jo said: “We both have children from separate relationships that permanently live or visit frequently – so it can get very busy. So we needed a larger house and value for money.
“We also wanted peace and quiet and not the busy town feel. We’ve now got the four bedrooms we need, and a location that offers excellent commuting.”
Jo works as a chief officer for the voluntary sector for Harborough district, based in Market Harborough, and Andrew is a European accountant in Kettering.
The Colclough’s bought a Barratt Thorndale style and like its adaptability. Andrew explained: “The dining room is so spacious that it’s now a second lounge and study area for the kids.
“And because the kitchen and family room is of a good size – we eat all our meals in there.”
The design of the development also appealed. Andrew said: “It is very well planned – we’re not overlooked and you get a spacious and airy feeling.”
Another benefit for buying with Barratt was using their part exchange service. Andrew said: “The service is exceedingly convenient – we moved in just five weeks.
“We had tried to sell our previous house twice before, but with no luck. The service has no chain, no hassle and we were offered a fair valuation for our old home – it takes all the pressure off. We would still be living in Great Bowden now if it wasn’t for part exchange.”
