First-time buyer Paula Hamill thought it may be tough to get into property ownership. That was until she heard about an initiative from Barratt Northampton at Water’s Reach in Hampton Vale, Peterborough.
Previously living nearby, Paula was keen to stay in the area, and talked with Barratt about the Dream Start deal.
She said: “I’d been renting with my sister and felt that it was time to get on the property ladder.
“If it wasn’t for Dream Start, I would never have been able to move. Because I didn’t need to have a deposit, it was a major factor for me, and made the home more affordable.”
Dream Start enables people to buy a home for just 75 per cent of its purchase price, with the remainder payable at a later date.
Paula, a legal secretary in Peterborough, bought a two-bedroom Buttermere style. She said: “My home was currently in build, so I saw the show apartment and it was really spacious. The living room is huge, and the bay window is large enough to fit the dining table.
“I’ve also got two double bedrooms. The apartment has an open feel and people visiting always say how roomy it is.
“I didn’t look at any other areas – Hampton Vale has it all. The lakes are pretty, which are great for walks. And there’s a really good community, with lots happening.”
Properties on current release include two bedroom apartments and four and five bedroom homes. Prices range from £131,995 - £323,995.
