With her grandchild many miles away and a home too large to manage, widow Carole Stephens was delighted when daughter Karen found her the perfect home – and a new start to life.
Having lived in Cranleigh, Surrey, for over 30 years in the family home, it was time for Carole to be closer to Karen and grandson Jamie in Bedfordshire.
Karen, who lives in a Barratt home in Oakley, visited Barratt Northampton’s The Orchards development in the village, and immediately telephoned her mum after seeing the ideal property.
Carole explained: “It sounded so perfect I had to see it – and when I did - I loved it. Karen lives just down the road which means I see Jamie nearly every day – it’s a dream come true.”
Carole lives on an exclusive development of just 10 homes, mainly in four and five bedroom detached styles, and bought a three bedroom bungalow.
She said: “It’s easy to maintain and the specification is very good. And the walled garden is a great size and private.”
And how does Cranleigh compare with Oakley? “It’s a lovely community here and there’s a convenient store with a Post Office. For shopping I go to Bedford and Milton Keynes – they’re nearby.”
For the future, Carole loves gardening and her next project is a greenhouse. And of course, she will now see a lot more of her family.
