Location, like for many people, was top of Teresa and Richard Puckey’s house-hunting wish-list, when they bought at Barratt Northampton’s Genesis in Hinchingbrooke.
The couple and their two sons Kieran and Ross, were previously living in married quarters at Royal Air Force Brampton, where Richard is based as a personnel administrator.
Keen to be in the catchment area of Huntingdon School for the boys, they bought a spacious three bedroom Eskdale style.
Richard said: “It’s the ideal location. We can walk or bike to all amenities, including the school. There’s also the country park here – the boys like mountain biking and it’s nice for walks.
“Huntingdon is just minutes away, and we use Brampton village regularly which has a good choice of services - the location of Genesis was the main reason for buying.”
The house fits their lifestyle well. Teresa, a supervisor for Mothercare said: “Compared with other homes, all the rooms are of a good size. And the separate dining room is important for family meals.
“The development also attracted us – it’s quiet and doesn’t feel too big.”
The couple bought using Barratt’s Head Start scheme, enabling the home to be bought for 85 per cent of its price.
Richard said: “Head Start enabled us to get a better rate of mortgage interest – and made the home more affordable.
“Barratt have been brilliant through the purchase. Because we were new to house-buying, they gave great help and advice and kept us informed all the time – it’s been hassle free.”
