Your peace of mind matters to us, so that’s why our homes are covered by the 10 year structural warranty, plus a 2 year fixtures and fittings warranty on virtually all our homes.
Our extensive range of house styles (over 100 different ones across our divisions) means you’re sure to find a home to suit your needs. Whether it’s more space for the kids to play or room to entertain, we offer you the most effective use of space by factoring in the size of real furniture when we’re designing our homes.
Industry-leading standards in build excellence and quality
Our developments operate to the highest standards of build quality and always in a professional and responsible manner. In recognition of this 90 of our Site Managers have won 2014 NHBC Pride in the Job awards for quality workmanship. This is the tenth year in a row that our Site Managers have picked up more awards than any other housebuilder in this coveted category.
Mike Quinton, Chief Executive of NHBC, said: "For nearly 35 years, Pride in the Job has been a fundamental component of NHBC's work to raise standards through the celebration and sharing of best practice. Our winners are at the forefront of the house-building recovery, making sure that quality is maintained and improved year on year, as they raise the bar for success in the competition.”
Adie Morgan, Pride in the Job winner 2014
What is the HBF star rating scheme?
Each year, the HBF gives home builders a star rating, based on feedback from an independent customer satisfaction survey covering 12 months from 1 October to 30 September. This year we've been awarded the maximum five stars for the sixth year running and we're the only major national housebuilder to have achieved this.
The National New Homes Survey, sent to owners of new homes eight weeks after completion, is designed to help buyers make informed decisions, raise customer satisfaction levels and encourage excellence across the industry.
Operated by NHBC it is entirely independent and awards a rating of one to five based on the answer to the question: ‘Would you recommend your builder to a friend?’
Ratings are awarded as follows:
*The percentage is based on the number of valid responses received.
||90% or more of homeowners* must be prepared to recommend their builder to a friend.
||80% or more of homeowners* must be prepared to recommend their builder to a friend.
||70% or more of homeowners* must be prepared to recommend their builder to a friend.
||60% or more of homeowners* must be prepared to recommend their builder to a friend.
||50% or more of homeowners* must be prepared to recommend their builder to a friend.
The HBF Star Rating Scheme is open to HBF members who typically build more than 300 homes per year. It is a voluntary scheme so only those builders who opt to participate will be star rated.
We’re committed to building and operating our business in a sustainable way. We acknowledge that building homes and new communities can have a big impact on the environment, so we aim to minimise waste and reduce energy (through the Green Team initiative) and ensure we meet the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 Energy Performance.
We go to great lengths to encourage and nurture local ecology on our developments by planting trees and shrubs that will help local wildlife flourish. We plant, on average, 20 trees or shrubs for each home we build* and on average 27% of the total land on a Barratt development is green space**.
You can read more about this in the Barratt Developments Sustainability Report.
We look for greenfield, brownfield, rural and urban sites when seeking land for our homes. We’re industry leaders in developing brownfield sites and commercial buildings – our experience and specialist skills mean we can often make land work where others can’t.
We also welcome opportunities to develop land in partnership. If you have a development opportunity you would like to discuss, just contact your local Barratt office.
