The top things to do in Leeds with kids

As one of the North’s most exciting cities, Leeds is a great place to live if you have children. Whether you’re putting together an action-packed itinerary for the school holidays, planning a fun-filled weekend or perhaps taking your grandchildren out for the day, we’ve picked out five of the best things to do with your kids in Leeds.

Eureka! The National Children’s Museum

Only 15 miles from Leeds city centre in Halifax, this is one of the best children’s attractions in Yorkshire, and indeed the UK. Closer to our St Andrew’s Place development in Morley, the interactive exhibits and activities provide a fun way for your kids to learn while having a great time. One of the top things to do in Leeds with kids aged up to 11, there are six different zones to explore, along with creativity spaces and an ever-changing programme of events and special exhibitions.

Gravity Trampolining

A great place to get pulses racing - and maybe even tire out your little ones at the same time - this fun-packed entertainment centre is a bounce a minute. The main area is formed by more than 100 interconnected trampolines, while there are further activities to get involved with, including obstacle courses, dodgeball and even fitness sessions. Gravity is also hugely popular for kids’ parties, while there are parent and toddler sessions and themed events too.

Team Sport Go-Karting

If you want to ramp up the adrenaline levels even further, why not take your children for a memorable day of indoor karting? Kids aged eight and over will love the chance to tear around the 580-metre track in petrol karts capable of speeds up to 40mph, with different karts available for adults and children. The centre offers family karting experiences, kids’ parties and even tuition for youngsters to get to grips with the karts and race around those twisting turns as quickly as possible.

Otley Chevin Forest Park

For a very different pace to your day out with the kids, head to the north-east outskirts of the city and Otley Chevin Forest Park. Serving up some beautiful natural scenery on the edge of Guiseley and Yeadon within the Wharfe Valley, the park’s north-facing cliff rises to a height of 280m above sea level. Soak up the views, spot wildlife, and let your dog run free for a great time with the whole family in North Leeds.

Leeds City Museum

If you’re looking to find some indoor entertainment in the heart of town, this excellent museum is ideal come rain or shine. Exhibits range from centuries-old Egyptian mummies to gigantic whale skeletons, pre-historic fossils and the famous Leeds Tiger. Leeds City Museum is one of the best free things to do in Leeds with kids, while you can also check out the events calendar to see if there are any workshops or special events you can get involved with.

Whether you’re visiting the city from afar, travelling in from a suburb such as Adel or looking for attractions to walk to in the centre of town, Leeds is a great place to buy a new home. Make sure you check out developments such as our Ambler’s Meadow site in East Ardsley and Drovers Court in Micklefield if you’re considering buying a new build property in this area.
