Essentials on your doorstep

As a primarily residential location, Uddingston majors on family-friendly facilities and amenities. The high street, for instance, is peppered with major stores but retains plenty of smaller family-owned shops. The sprawling Tannochside retail park is one of Scotland's best locations for buying furniture, while neighbouring Bothwell hosts the opposite end of the retail spectrum.

Efficient, modern design

With Uddingston's train station just a moment's stroll away, and the town's lengthy high street also within close proximity, residents of The Grammar can enjoy being in the very heart of town. This is apartment living at its most central, yet established sandstone homes shield the development from passing traffic, which results in a surprisingly quiet ambience throughout the estate. With generous amounts of parking provided, The Grammar's three well-spaced apartment buildings feel open-plan within their surroundings, and the development's low-rise design is entirely in keeping with Uddingston's existing skyline.

The build so far

The Grammar will feature a diverse portfolio of apartments upon completion, ranging from one to three bedrooms in size. The largest homes under construction are the two-bedroom Pentland and the three-bed Nevis, each occupying attic levels within the various apartment buildings.

Meet the team

Katrina Britton is our passionate senior sales adviser at The Grammar and has been with us since July 1998. With her wealth of expertise, Katrina is always keen to help you find your dream apartment and guide you through the whole process when buying from beginning to end.

A fantastic location

Uddingston offers plenty of sporting facilities for residents of all ages, including dedicated tennis, bowling, rugby, football and cricket grounds. The Grammar was named after its location on the former site of Uddingston's acclaimed high school, which has now relocated across Old Glasgow Road to a bespoke new £21 million complex, offering state-of-the-art facilities for over 1,100 pupils.

It could be argued that Uddingston has the best transport links of any town in Scotland. It is to Uddingston's immense good fortune that it is flanked by three different motorways - the M73, M74 and M8 - offering rapid travel in every direction. Uddingston also has a direct connection into central Glasgow along the A74 dual carriageway, through the city's rapidly gentrifying east end. Uddingston is also one of relatively few residential locations where it's possible to catch a train directly to both Glasgow and Edinburgh. That makes this a tempting commuter location.

Evenings and weekends

  • Travelling slightly further afield leads to the meandering tree-lined roads of South Lanarkshire's Clyde Valley, with garden centres and chocolate-box villages
  • The historic market town of Lanark and the World Heritage centre of New Lanark are also within close reach.
  • Strathclyde Park Country Park is nearby

Live the life

Setting aside the innumerable attractions of neighbouring Glasgow, there are plenty of other places of interest within easy reach of Uddingston. The historic ruin of Bothwell Castle is on the doorstep, while a couple of miles away, Hamilton is also blessed with a rich history, typified by its mausoleum within the landscaped Palace Grounds. Indeed, Uddingston is just a short drive from East Kilbride, where one of the country's best shopping centres is situated, alongside a nine-screen cinema and a bustling ice rink.
