Speakers at INSPIRE//NETWORK share inspirational stories with the Built by Both members.
Last night, Built by Both held their second INSPIRE//NETWORK event, bringing men and women working in the built environment sector together to celebrate the extensive opportunities and success stories across the industry – to empower and inspire young women to build careers in the housebuilding industry.
Held at Winckworth Sherwood’s London Bridge offices, the network heard from three guest speakers, who highlighted the skills shortage of women in trades and key themes that have contributed to success in the built environment: collaboration, and knowing that it is never too late.
Kath Moore, Managing Director at Women into Construction spoke about her career roots as a carpenter, who went on to train other females in the trade and started her own organisation to promote women into roles on site. Stewart Murray, Assistant Director at GLA has a large female workforce, and spoke of the need to actively promote women to join the construction industry. The network were also joined by Chris, a Young Ambassador of The Prince’s Trust. These inspirational speakers took guests along their career journey and explained how they reached the positions they are in today.
Built by Both hope to harness these themes with their campaign: bringing people together to change the face of the industry, and meeting role models to broaden professional networks. Their next event will be on Thursday 17 November.
