Fulham Riverside wins Landscape Development Award at BHA 2016

The Sunday Times awarded Fulham Riverside’s landscape gardens at the British Homes Awards 2016.

Barratt London’s Fulham Riverside won the Landscape Development Award at the annual The Sunday Times British Home Awards yesterday.

The British Homes Awards is focused around championing design excellence. The Awards celebrate and commend excellence in today’s new homes within 13 specific categories. Barratt London were commended for the following:

The Landscape Development category looks at the scale, quality and innovative nature of the spaces, planting and structures, and how it contributes to the sustainable development and the provision of communal facilities. In this category, Barratt London were shortlisted alongside Millgate Homes’ Woolley Hall and Berkeley Homes’ Goodman’s Fields, but Fulham Riverside’s acre of landscaped gardens took away the award for Landscaped Development on the day.

Fulham Riverside is a 3.2 hectare site, once a coal-fired power plant then a brewery, located on the north bank of the River Thames in Fulham’s Sands End Riverside conservation area. The development is transforming derelict warehouses and a disused jetty into a thriving new community of 468 new homes, dynamic public spaces and river frontage alongside restaurants, cafés, bars, and a gym. At the centre of Fulham Riverside you will find multi-layered tranquil gardens, overlooking the River Thames. Award-winning landscape designers, Fabrik, have created a vast garden planted with native trees and box hedging, where residents can explore the water features, maze, outdoor gym and even enjoy a game of badminton or chess.

David Thomas, Chief Executive at Barratt Developments PLC commented: “We are clearly delighted to have been recognised by the Sunday Times at the British Homes Awards. Building strong communities is a key goal for us so we are extremely proud to have won the award for best landscape development for Fulham Riverside and to be named overall Homebuilder of the Year. As the UK’s largest housebuilder we are committed to building homes of the highest quality which showcase design excellence, so it is great to be recognised for this by winning these awards.”
