Bringing London’s river to life

,

Totally Thames near Barratt London’s Nine Elms Point development is celebrating London’s river.

The annual Totally Thames festival, hosted by the Thames Festival Trust, is bringing the river to life over the month of September. From 1 – 30 September, residents at Barratt London’s Nine Elms Point development will be able to enjoy a number of installations, exhibitions, and dine by the river in new restaurants and bars.

Part of one of London’s greatest transformational stories, Nine Elms Point is located within London’s new cultural district and moments from fantastic events hosted at the Totally Thames festival. This year, the festival will bring more than 170 art and cultural events along the 42-mile stretch of the River Thames, and will feature London’s first ever underwater installation. Sculpted by Jason deCaires Taylor, four proud working horses and their riders were installed on the foreshore of the neighbouring M16 in Vauxhall.  Titled The Rising Tide, the installation paid homage to the industrial evolution of the Thames and the nomadic people who have travelled and traded on its shores.

Closer to Nine Elms Point, at the base of The Tower, A Mile in My Shoes is another highlight of Totally Thames. Created in collaboration with local residents and members of the community, A Mile in My Shoes is an audio portrait presented to the public as an interactive shoe-shop.

Councillor Ravi Govindia, Co-chair of the Nine Elms Vauxhall Partnership and Leader of Wandsworth Council, commented on the festival, stating: “[Totally Thames is] a great excuse to explore the changes being made across Nine Elms on the South Bank and to hear some personal stories from area’s past. Piece by piece this area is coming to life and taking on lots of exciting new uses”.

Nine Elms Point is playing a key role in the regeneration of the area, bringing 645 one-bedroom suites, one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses to Nine Elms. The development includes a fitness suite, concierge, private dining room and business facilities. Residents will also benefit from the convenience of a new flagship Sainsbury’s below the development and easy access to the new Nine Elms underground station.
