Barratt London’s New South Quarter development receives bronze at National Site Awards.
At Barratt London, working with local neighbourhoods and the public safely and considerately is our number one priority; and we’re excited to announce New South Quarter has won bronze at the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) 2015 National Site Awards yesterday. The CCS’s National Site Awards recognise sites registered with the scheme and those that have raised the bar for considerate construction.
The CCS is a not-for-profit, independent organisation, where construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the scheme and agree to follow the Code of Considerate Practice. This code is designed to encourage best practice beyond legal requirements, with the scheme focusing on any area of construction that might directly or indirectly impact the image of the industry as a whole.
Since 1999, the scheme has been rewarding the UK's most considerate sites for their contribution towards improving the image of construction. The scheme looks at the measures a site has put in place to be more considerate towards local neighbourhoods and the public, the workforce, and the environment.
New South Quarter's award shows that the site has displayed the highest levels of consideration towards the public, its workforce and the environment by following the scheme’s five-point Code of Considerate Practice:
- Care about Appearance
- Respect the Community
- Protect the Environment
- Secure everyone’s Safety
- Value their Workforce
Stephen Thompson, Operations Director at Barratt London, said: “Our commitment to health and safety is our first priority. I am thrilled that New South Quarter was awarded Bronze at the CCS awards. Our conduct and consideration to the neighbourhood, the workforce and the environment is of upmost importance”.
Mike Petter, Chairman of CCS commented: “It is our privilege to reward the efforts of all those involved in projects which set the bar in terms of considerate construction. We never fail to be impressed each year by the high levels of innovation and excellence evidenced throughout the industry. Each award-winning project serves as a shining example to the industry as to what can be achieved across a range of different sized projects and in all sectors of the industry. My congratulations to all sites that have received a National Site Award”.
