Maple Quays wins at Urban Design Awards

Maple Quays, the Barratt London Docklands development, wins Developer Award at the National Urban Design Awards 2014

Barratt London worked with a variety of high-quality architects including Maccreanor Lavington, Glenn Howells and PKS to deliver five distinct phases, culminating in a stunning and elegant landmark tower with incredible views across the Thames and Tower Bridge.

In designing the exterior of Maple Quays, the architects sought to create a striking building in harmony with its environment. Harald Hugues of Glenn Howells Architects said "It has evolved into a refined, elegant form that combines a strong vertical language with a delicate articulation of materials and heights. Shifting planes and variations in height offer interest and expression to the top and bottom of the building."

The 2014 National Urban Design Awards recognise excellence in urban design practice, encouraging collaboration, innovation and the sharing of ideas.
