If you like exploring the great outdoors, there are lots of places to visit close to Irvine including Eglinton Country Park, Irvine Beach, Milgarholm Park and Dean Castle Country Park. For history fans the Scottish Maritime Museum is ideal for a morning or afternoon out, while The Harbour Arts Centre, The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and Wellwood Burns Centre and Museum are all nearby.

Getting to Irvine
Irvine is well-connected by road and rail, while Glasgow Prestwick Airport is only a 20 minute drive or 15 minute train journey away. The town is a 20 minute drive from Kilmarnock, while the journey from Ayr takes around 25 minutes by car or 20 minutes by train. If you’re commuting to and from Glasgow, the train only takes around 30 minutes while the car journey takes 50 minutes on average.
For journeys further afield, Irvine is one hour 40 minutes from Edinburgh by car, and five hours 40 minutes from London by train, with one change at Glasgow Central.
