Things to see and do

Located alongside the Blaise Castle Estate, there’s plenty of green space close to Henbury. Spanning 650 acres, the area is home to woodland walks, play areas and a museum. The University of Bristol Botanic Gardens are also nearby, ideal for a Sunday morning stroll.

If you’re moving to the area with young children, they’ll love meeting the animals at St Werburghs City Farm, the Wild Place Project and Bristol Zoo Gardens. The city centre is also home to At-Bristol and Bristol Aquarium.

For sports fans, you can cheer on Bristol City FC and Bristol Rugby RFC play at Ashton Gate, or Bristol Rovers FC at Memorial Stadium. Shirehampton Park Golf Club and Bristol Golf Course are also close to Henbury, if you want to enjoy a leisurely round or practice your swing.

Education

If you’re moving to Hanbury with school-age children, there are a number of excellent schools to choose from. Blaise Primary and Nursery School, Brentry Primary School and Redland Green School are all rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, while independent schools nearby include The Red Maids’ School and Badminton School.

Located within easy reach of the city centre, Henbury is close to both the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England for higher education.

Getting to Henbury

Henbury is close to the M5 and only a short drive from both the M4 and M49, while Bristol Parkway and Patchway stations are nearby. If you’re commuting to and from Bristol city centre, the drive takes around 20 minutes, while the bus takes 35 minutes.

To get to Henbury, the journey from the centre of Bath takes around 40 minutes. The village is 30 minutes from Weston-super-Mare, 40 minutes from Gloucester and 50 minutes from Cardiff. If you’re travelling from London, the car journey takes two hours 15 minutes by car depending on traffic, while the train from Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads takes one hour 40 minutes.

When it’s time for a well-earned holiday, Henbury is only a 25-minute drive away from Bristol Airport.
