The Barratt London Awards: Winners announced

Jul 26, 2019
Barratt London Awards 2019

The winners of the first ever Barratt London Awards have been announced, following numerous nominations and careful consideration from a team of judges.

The Barratt London Awards shine a light on the lesser-known places where residents love to wine, dine and relax in the city they call home.

Hundreds of people nominated their favourite places to be in with a chance of winning a £500 John Lewis voucher. In doing so, they gave their favourite spot the chance to win a Barratt London Award.

Teaming up with two London Bloggers, Poppy Loves and I'm Moving to London, Barratt London decided on the final deserving winners and headed out to each destination to personally present the awards.

Here are the winners of each category and your Barratt London hidden gems revealed:

Dining - Minnow, Clapham

An independent restaurant over-looking Clapham Common, Minnow was the rightful winner of the dining category. The restaurant, which is decorated entirely with flowers, is certainly something to be admired. They focus on seasonal dishes using the freshest ingredients and local produce, helping to establish themselves as a 'must-visit' venue.

Café - Woolidando, Bethnal Green

Based in Bethnal Green, Woolidando won the award for the best café in London. It combines a café and plant shop in a unique and effortless way. Blending speciality coffee and soul warming food, which they present in a stunning green and natural environment.

Pub/Bar - WC Clapham

A true definition of a hidden gem, this establishment is based in a former public toilet, yet serves a delicious selection of cocktails, meat and cheese boards. The quirky wine bar located underneath Clapham Common tube station is discreet. However, WC Clapham certainly stands out in many other ways.

Well-being - Parliament Hill Lido, Hampstead

Parliament Hill Lido based in North London, is just a stone's throw away from Hampstead Heath. A glorious unheated open air swimming pool, open to the public for an impressive 365 days a year. First opened in 1938, the Lido has been a place for Londoners to unwind and relax for over 80 years. As a result of its special history, the Lido came first place in our well-being category.

Entertainment - Four Thieves, Battersea

This establishment might appear as an ordinary pub upon arrival. However, Four Thieves has a fantastic hidden gem in the form of its upstairs arcade. From glow in the dark mini golf, to Moonshine Racing and retro arcade games. It's certainly the perfect recipe for an entertaining night out.

Retailer - Lina Stores, Soho

A quaint delicatessen based in Soho, Lina Stores has been serving Londoner's for over 75 years. Authentic Italian meats, fresh pasta and cheeses are just some of the delicious goods this hidden gem has to offer. Therefore, making this store the best retailer in London.

As an established and trusted provider of London living, The Barratt London Awards were a fantastic way to shine a light on what the city has to offer, and celebrate what a wonderful place it is to reside.
