Evenings and weekends
Head to Princesshay if you're looking for your big high street names, Gandy Street if you're searching for a little boutique and if you're just looking for convenience, John Lewis houses everything you need under one roof.
Hit the beach
Grab you buckets and spades and get down to the beach. Both Exmouth and Dawlish Warren are just over half an hours drive from The Orchard @ Hillside Gardens, where you can enjoy the great British summer and walk your dogs over the red cliffs of Sandy Bay. If you're a keen cyclist, you can cycle the 11.5 mile route from The Quay to Exmouth beach. The route is fairly flat and it doesn't feel like such hard work when you stop for a bag of chips by the sea!
Exeter's Historic Quayside is one of the most attractive areas of the city, popular for its fascinating history, interesting architecture and lively pubs and restaurants. Throughout the year events are held around the quay, everything from 10k runs to live music.
Food and Drink
Queen St was given a new makeover in 2016 and has been transformed into a food-lovers paradise. With eight restaurants, all new to the city, Queen St has become the go-to place in the city for diners, grazers and shoppers to meet, eat and socialise.
