Best Places to Live in Devon

Oct 24, 2021
Tiverton

Boasting more than 500 miles of coastline, great beaches, arresting national parks and a host of other beauty spots, Devon is also popular for its relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. From vibrant cities to bustling seaside towns and quaint villages wrapped up in the countryside, there are lots of brilliant places to buy a new home across the county. To help you decide where to buy in Devon, we’ve picked out five of the best places to live in Devon.

Alphington

As a suburb of Exeter just over a mile south of the city centre, Alphington is a desirable place to live. It has strong house prices and superb access not only to central areas, but also to the local countryside, Dartmoor National Park, the south coast and attractions such as Crealy Theme Park & Resort. There are also some superb new build properties in this area, including on our Victoria Heights development, where you’ll find a contemporary collection of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes set into plenty of open space.

Bideford

Over on the north coast, Bideford sits astride the River Torridge not far from where it meets the River Taw and flows into the Bristol Channel. There’s attractive natural scenery on all sides, while house prices in town are more affordable than neighbouring Northam, which is another sought-after spot. Whatever your budget, you can look forward to coastal walks, bike rides by the river and exploring the local country parks and beaches.

Tiverton

If you’re looking for the best place to buy a home in Devon where you can enjoy a rural lifestyle surrounded by beautiful open countryside, you may be able to end your search in Tiverton. Not far from Cullompton, this pleasant town lies along the River Exe and is packed with history.

Okehampton

Should you rather be closer to the spectacular scenery served up by Dartmoor, then Okehampton could be for you. The national park is famous for its rugged landscapes and characterised by flowing rivers, atmospheric forests and vast moorlands with roaming ponies, and you could live right on the edge of all this when you buy a new home at Okement Park along Crediton Road.

Paignton

Perhaps you prefer to be beside the seaside, in which case Paignton could be appealing to you. A lovely town next door to Torquay and not far from Teignmouth and Dawlish along Devon’s picturesque southern coastline, our Berry Acres site offers excellent access to both Dartmoor and Tor Bay. With a stunning selection of 2,3 and 4 bedroom homes for sale, you’ll need to be quick if you’re interested in buying a property on any of our developments in Devon.
