Cullompton, or ‘Cully’ as it is affectionately known, is situated in mid Devon 14 miles from Exeter. Sitting on the on the River Culm, many of the town’s population are commuters.

Cullompton Attractions

Cullompton’s industrial history can be traced back to the 1700s when the mid Devon fabric, textile and lace industries were established.

Some working textile and paper mills are still in operation in the area, and you can learn all about this fascinating industry at Coldharbour Mill Museum. A trip here invites you to look back and learn all about the working conditions over the lifetime of the mill, have a guided tour and see the machinery in action.

Further historical highlights in Cullompton include its two Grade 1 listed buildings- ; St Andrew's parish church, which dates back to the 15th century, and the 17th century house known as ‘The Walronds’.

There are a number of interesting attractions in and around Cullompton, such as Yarak Bird of Prey Falconry Centre, which was awarded a certificate of Excellence by tripadvisor in 2014. Here you can learn all about these fascinating birds – and if you’re feeling brave, have a go at holding one. A great day out for adults and children alike, this will be one attraction you’ll want to return to.

Another superb family day out can be had at Diggerland. Offering children and adults the opportunity to drive real construction machinery, it’s certainly a day with a difference. With 15 different rides to have a go on, you might want to opt for the adrenaline-inducing ‘Spindizzy’ or relax and get a bird’s eye view from the ‘Skyshuttle’.

Shoppers will enjoy spending time in the town centre which boasts an array of independent shops, cafes, eateries and pubs. A monthly farmers market is held on the second Saturday of every month, where you’ll be able to pick up fresh and local produce.

Cullompton Transport Links

If you’re travelling to the town by car, junction 28 of the M5 will bring you into Cullompton. Other major road links are the A373 to Honinton and the B3181 to Exeter.
