To uncover London's most sought-after town hall wedding venues, Barratt London analysed Google search interest, Google ratings and review data from leading wedding venues across the capital.

Chelsea Old Town Hall

Chelsea Old Town Hall ranks as London's most sought-after civic wedding venue, generating an average of 1,660 monthly Google searches. Set on the King's Road, the Grade II-listed landmark has become synonymous with stylish London weddings thanks to its striking Edwardian Baroque architecture and iconic entrance steps. Its combination of historic charm, central location and celebrity appeal continues to make it one of the capital's most desirable places to say "I do".

The Old Marylebone Town Hall

In second place is The Old Marylebone Town Hall, one of London's most celebrated wedding venues. Built between 1914 and 1920, the Edwardian Baroque building is known for its grand staircase, elegant interiors and rich celebrity history. Reports of a recent wedding between Dua Lipa and Callum Turner have further boosted its profile, while famous former newlyweds associated with the venue include Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Liam Gallagher. Strong review scores and rapidly growing search interest underline its enduring appeal.

Islington Town Hall

Completing the top three is Islington Town Hall. Located on Upper Street, the Grade II-listed building combines impressive civic architecture with one of North London's most vibrant neighbourhoods. While overall popularity highlights the venues generating the greatest attention, year-on-year search growth reveals which locations are seeing demand increase the fastest.

Old Marylebone Town Hall records the strongest growth in the ranking, with wedding-related searches increasing by 82% year-on-year. The venue's grand staircase, historic interiors and central London location have also helped it become one of the most recognisable registry offices on social media.

Camden Town Hall ranks second, with demand rising by 63%. Its location near King's Cross and St Pancras places it at the heart of one of London's fastest-changing neighbourhoods, making it increasingly appealing to couples seeking an accessible urban venue.

Hammersmith Town Hall records the third-fastest growth rate, with searches increasing by 58% year-on-year. Positioned close to the Thames and several of West London's most sought-after neighbourhoods, its rise reflects growing demand for wedding venues that combine excellent transport links with attractive local surroundings.

Morden Park House, meanwhile, appears to be benefiting from a different trend. Interest in the Georgian manor house has risen by 47%, suggesting many couples are looking beyond traditional central London registry offices in favour of venues that offer historic architecture, gardens and a more intimate atmosphere without leaving the capital.

The data also highlights the continued popularity of established favourites. Searches for Chelsea Old Town Hall, one of London's most iconic wedding venues, increased by 34% over the past year, while Islington Town Hall saw searches rise by 35%, demonstrating ongoing demand for classic London ceremony locations.

London's best rated wedding venues

Review data reveals which venues leave the strongest impression on couples after the ceremony has taken place.

Old Marylebone Town Hall emerges as London's highest-rated major civic wedding venue, with four in five reviews estimated to be five stars. Chelsea Old Town Hall, Morden Park House and Islington Town Hall also record exceptionally high levels of satisfaction among couples, with more than seven in ten reviews estimated to be five stars.

Morden Park House stands out in particular. Despite generating significantly fewer searches than many of London's better-known wedding venues, it has accumulated an impressive number of five-star reviews. This suggests the Merton-based venue may be one of London's most underrated locations for a registry office wedding.

Southwark Register Office also earns a place among London's best-rated venues, with an estimated 60% of reviews awarded five stars. While it attracts less attention than some of the capital's more famous town halls, its strong review performance suggests it is leaving a positive impression on couples who choose it for their ceremony.

How many Brits are considering a town hall wedding?

Town hall weddings are no longer viewed as simply a budget alternative to traditional ceremonies.

Barratt London's survey of 500 Brits suggests registry office weddings have firmly entered the mainstream, with nearly half of respondents having either married at a town hall themselves or attended a town hall wedding.

One in six Brits have already had a town hall wedding

When asked about their experience with town hall weddings:

• 16% have had a town hall wedding themselves
• 32% have attended a town hall wedding
• 32% have never attended one but would consider it

This means almost half of respondents already have first-hand experience of a registry office ceremony, while a further third remain open to the idea.

More than a third say the trend is making them more likely to consider one

Over a third (35%) of respondents said growing interest in town hall weddings has made them more likely to consider one themselves.

Methodology

Barratt London analysed search demand for leading town halls, registry offices and civic wedding venues across Greater London using Google Keyword Planner data.

Average monthly Google searches and year-on-year search growth were analysed for venue-specific wedding-related search terms. Google review data was collected for each venue, including overall ratings and total review volumes. Estimated five-star reviews were calculated using review ratings and publicly available review counts.

An overall score out of 100 was then created using a weighted index incorporating search demand, changes in search interest, venue ratings and review performance. Search volumes represent search interest rather than unique searchers.
