Things to see and do in Hillingdon

As one of London’s biggest boroughs, there’s plenty of space across Hillingdon and much of it in the north is taken up by charming natural spots like Ruislip Woods. Relax by the lido on a sunny day, and stroll over to the neighbouring Colne Valley Regional Park. Covering some 43 square miles, don’t miss Denham Country Park, Bayhurst Wood, Old Park Wood and Stocker’s Lake.

Further south you can enjoy places like Lake Farm Country Park and Stockley Park on the edge of Hayes, as well as Harmondsworth Moor, Northala Fields and the reservoirs surrounding Stanwell Moor. If you have children then Legoland is nearby, in addition to Thorpe Park with its rollercoasters which are suitable for kids both little and large.

There are some excellent local schools for when it’s time for your children to earn their trip to their favourite theme park. Hillingdon Primary and St Mary’s Catholic Primary in Uxbridge are both rated as outstanding by Ofsted, likewise Yeading Infant and Nursery School, Pinner’s West Lodge Primary and Whiteheath Infant and Nursery School in Ruislip.

Kids in Ruislip can continue on to the outstanding secondary, Ruislip High, while Vyners School in Ickenham is ranked just as highly by the education board. The same goes for Swakeleys School for Girls, Northwood School and Haydon School in Pinner.

Hillingdon transport links

With the London Underground’s Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines passing through the heart of the borough and a selection of train stations and bus services, Hillingdon has top notch transport links. Even more so with Crossrail stops West Drayton and Hayes & Harlington linking the borough to the centre of the capital in no time. Oh, and one of the world’s leading airports, London Heathrow, lies in the south of the borough.

The Hillingdon property scene

Hillingdon property prices are considerably lower than the average across the rest of London, making this is a great area to secure more house for your money. It could also mean for a great investment for the future, with property prices across the capital fully expected to continue rising in the years to come.
