Live the Wandsworth life

A great area which has seen some wonderful regeneration in recent years to further enhance its appeal across the whole borough, buying a new home in Wandsworth promises to be a great investment both for now and the future. And thanks to offers such as the London Help to Buy scheme, investing in the area has never been so appealing.

Things to see and do in Wandsworth

From riverside parks to large commons which make you feel like you’re wrapped up in nature, Wandsworth has wonderful natural spots to complement its great location and excellent transport links. Wandsworth Park and the 200-acre Battersea Park are nestled on the south bank of the Thames, while King George’s Park, Wandsworth Common and Putney Heath are superb spots for a stroll.

With Wimbledon Common, Wimbledon Park and Clapham Common stretching into the borough, Wandsworth also has an array of smaller parks, pretty gardens and even historic ponds. Go for a swim at the open-air Tooting Bec Lido, shop for fresh produce at New Covent Garden Market and get involved with the annual festivities at the quintessentially English Wimbledon tennis championships.

You usually need good schools to boost the appeal of an area, and Wandsworth doesn’t disappoint. Battersea’s Chesterton Primary and Honeywell Junior School are both rated as outstanding by Ofsted, along with St Anselm’s Catholic Primary in Tooting Bec. Earlsfield Primary, Sheringdale Primary in Southfields and Putney’s Our Lady of Victories Catholic Primary are all in the education board’s top performing category too.

The same goes for secondaries such as Harris Academy Battersea, Ashcroft Technology Academy in Putney and Balham’s La Retraite Roman Catholic GirlsSchool. If you’re after an independent then Thomass Battersea and nearby Emanuel School are among the top options, along with Putney High School and Streatham and Clapham High School.

Wandsworth transport links

The west of the borough is served by the London Underground’s District line at East Putney and Southfields station, while the Northern line passes through the east and stops at Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway, as well as Clapham South.

There are also Overground services from stations such as key hub Clapham Junction - which offers services to Gatwick Airport that take just over 20 minutes - in addition to buses, taxis and community transport schemes.

The Wandsworth property scene

Wandsworth’s property market has benefited from wonderful regeneration which includes our iconic Lombard Wharf development, with average prices rising significantly higher than the mean across London as a result. Nine Elms Point is another stunning example of modern architecture, contributing to the local area being a great part of London to invest in.

From riverside apartments to Victorian and Edwardian terraces, semi and detached homes close to Putney Heath, you can also find beautiful 1 and 2 bedroom apartments for sale in Wallington a few miles south of Wandsworth’s border. Wherever you want to be, our Movemaker scheme can help your move go as seamlessly as possible, as we’ll pay the estate agents fees due when you sell your existing home.
