Things to see and do in Lambeth

Some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks in places like Westminster, Blackfriars and Covent Garden are just a short stroll over the River Thames from the northern part of Lambeth. The South Bank, meanwhile, is packed with art and cultural attractions such as the Royal Festival Hall, the Florence Nightingale Museum, the Hayward Gallery and the Southbank Centre.

From the London Eye to Lambeth Palace, there are also kids’ attractions such as Shrek’s Adventure London while Jubilee Gardens and Archbishop’s Park have fun playgrounds. Further south you can enjoy close proximity to Clapham Common, Brockwell Park, Tooting Bec Common and Streatham Common, while the shops, markets, bars, eateries and music venues of Brixton are the stuff of legend. Sports fans can also enjoy a trip to famous cricket ground, the Oval.

Education

Lambeth is littered with excellent schools you’d be more than happy to send your children to. There’s an array of options in Ofsted’s top bracket, with Vauxhall Primary, Archbishop Sumner CofE and Kennington’s Ashmole Primary all rated as outstanding by the education board. The same goes for Clapham Manor Primary, Brixton’s Sudbourne Primary and St Leonard’s CofE in Streatham.

Moving on to secondary age, kids in the borough can attend top schools such as Oasis Academy South Bank, Lilian Baylis Technology School in Kennington, Platanos College in Stockwell and Streatham’s Dunraven School.

Lambeth transport links

The positive reasons to choose Lambeth as a place to live continue with its transport links. Major train station Waterloo is in the north, which also offers access to the Underground’s Bakerloo, Jubilee and Northern lines. There are a number of other Tube stations across the northern half of the borough, while Southern and Thameslink train services are more prevalent in the south.
