Things to see and do in Isleworth
It’s easy to forget how close you are to Central London when you’re out and about exploring Isleworth and its local area. Redless Park is a pleasant little spot in the heart of the town, which is right on the bank of the Thames. This means you can enjoy some charming riverside walks, down to Marble Hill Park and even on to Hampton Court Park and Bushy Park if you want.
Syon House and its 200-acre park are in the opposite direction, while the magnificent Kew Gardens are right across the river. Brimming with pretty botanic gardens, galleries, water features and historic buildings, you can also make the most of the vast expanse of the nearby Richmond Park. If you like your sport, Twickenham Stadium is only a short stroll from the centre of Isleworth, home of the England national rugby union team.
Education
Thanks to schools like Blue School CofE Primary, this is a great place to live if you have children. St Mary’s Catholic Primary, Worple Primary and Isleworth Town Primary are further good options for younger kids, while the top local secondary options are the Green School for Girls and Isleworth and Syon School for Boys. The latter is rated as good by Ofsted, while the former is outstanding.
Isleworth transport links
Isleworth train station just off London Road provides South Western Railway services in the area. Hounslow East station is around a mile west and the nearest Tube stop, while Osterley is also nearby. They’re both on the Piccadilly line, which offers direct access to spots like Hyde Park Corner, Leicester Square and Covent Garden. As well as plenty of local bus routes, Heathrow Airport is also less than five miles to the west.
The Isleworth property scene
For the time being, Isleworth remains something of a hidden gem. If you like Twenties and Thirties properties and are looking for a semi-detached house in particular, you can snap up a real bargain in the town compared to other places in the surrounding area. This makes Isleworth a very popular place for the upwardly mobile, with house prices significantly lower than the London average.
As well as older properties, this is a great area of London to buy a new home in. You can do just that along Alexandra Road in neighbouring Hounslow, less than two miles west of Isleworth. Wherever you settle on, don’t miss offers such as our Movemaker scheme, where we could take care of the estate agent fees you have to pay when selling your existing home.
