Things to see and do in Ickenham

This area is one of the best spots in London for access to open spaces, starting with the pretty Swakeleys Park in the heart of town with its lake, gardens, sports facilities and play areas. Just a short stroll from here and you can lose yourself in nature at Colne Valley Regional Park, a stunning network of lakes, rivers and wooded trails spread over 43 square miles. 

As if that wasn’t enough, Ruislip Woods is just to the north of town, where you’ll even find a beach and lido for those sunny afternoons. Hit the Hillingdon Trail on foot or your bike, take the dog to Hillingdon Court Park or Ickenham Marsh and shop for an array of items at the local markets. 


There are plenty of good local schools for your kids to attend, including Glebe Primary and the Breakspear School. Sacred Heart Catholic Primary, meanwhile, is rated as outstanding by Ofsted. It’s the same for mixed secondary Vyners School, while Bishop Ramsey CofE and Ruislip High School are further outstanding options in the local area. 

Ickenham transport links

Despite being close to the M25 boundary towards the edge of Greater London, Ickenham still has a Tube station on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines. This gives you direct access to places like Wembley Park, Baker Street and Euston Square, as well as King’s Cross St Pancras, Hyde Park Corner, Leicester Square and Covent Garden. The latter, for example, is less than an hour away with no changes required. Ickenham is also served by a number of bus routes and is conveniently located for West Ruislip train station.
