Things to see and do in Haringey
Alexandra Palace is the borough’s most famous landmark. Known as Ally Pally, it’s an iconic entertainment and sports venue surrounded by an 80-hectare park in which you’ll find a boating lake and ice rink over winter. The nearby Wood Green Common, Bluebell Wood and Ducketts Common are all nice spots for a stroll, along with Queen’s Wood and Highgate Wood.
The Parkland Walk is a nice stretch for a cycle or walk to the south, while moving east across the borough you’ll find Finsbury Park, Bruce Castle Park and the Paddock Community Nature Park on the way towards the Walthamstow Reservoirs. They form the borough’s eastern boundary, and are close to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where you can watch Premier League football team Spurs in action.
Education
There are some excellent local schools to choose between, including Rhodes Avenue Primary near Ally Pally. It’s rated as outstanding by Ofsted, along with fellow primaries Noel Park in Wood Green, Coleridge Primary in Crouch End and Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park in Tottenham.
You can also take your pick between some outstanding local secondary schools, such as Fortismere School in Muswell Hill. St Thomas More Catholic School and Mulberry Academy Woodside are both in Wood Green, while Gladesmore Community School and Harris Academy Tottenham are other top options.
Haringey transport links
Haringey offers a good selection of bus, train and Tube services, with Highgate’s Underground station providing access to the Northern line. Bounds Green and Turnpike Lane Station are both on the Piccadilly line, while the east of the borough is covered by Overground stops in places like White Hart Lane and Seven Sisters. The latter, along with Tottenham Hale, also offers Stansted Express services.
The Haringey property scene
An increasingly popular place to live with better schools than ever before and some excellent areas to settle down in, house prices in Haringey are higher than the London average. There’s a pleasant mix of homes in the area, including late-Victorian terraces, large detached homes and plenty of period conversion flats.
