New Homes in Aberdeen FAQs

  • Whether you’ve grown up in the area, are moving to the oil capital of Europe for work or simply dream of calling Scotland’s rugged north east coast home, Aberdeen is a fascinating place to live. With cultural attractions to savor and miles of coastline ready to be explored, we can even give your move to Aberdeen a helping hand with some offers and schemes.
  • Some of the city’s top cultural draws, including the Maritime Museum (open 10am-5pm Monday - Friday and 11am - 4pm on Sunday) and Aberdeen Art Gallery, are free to enter. The same goes for green spaces like the landscaped Johnston Gardens with its atmospheric streams and ponds, and Hazlehead Park where you’ll find sports pitches and sculptures to complement the pretty woodland scenery.

From interactive exhibits at Aberdeen Science Centre to relaxing riverside walks through Donmouth Local Nature Reserve and family trips to Codona’s Amusement Park, Aberdeen offers plenty of ways to enrich your lifestyle.

  • A number of Aberdeen’s top primary schools are situated right in the heart of the city, including Robert Gordon’s College, an independent school which caters for primary and secondary students. There’s also Hanover Street School half a mile away - a highly-rated state school just a few hundred metres from the Esplanade and beach.

For older children, the Cults Academy enjoys excellent inspection reports from Education Scotland, and caters for pupils aged between 11 and 18 a few miles inland from the city centre. If you’re looking for a more central option, Skene Street’s Aberdeen Grammar School is a strong option and rated as very good by the education authority.

  • It may be relatively remote in terms of its location within Scotland and indeed the UK, but the city has a central train station, international airport and the world’s busiest heliport. Back down on solid ground, the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) forms part of the A90’s route. It provides easy access to other parts of Aberdeenshire, while you can use the road to reach Dundee in just over an hour to the south.
