What is Help to Buy – Wales?
With Help to Buy – Wales, you could buy a brand-new home sooner than you think.
- You only need a 5% deposit.
- The Government lends you up to 20% of the value of the property.
- The loan is interest-free for five years, making your brand-new home more affordable.
- You then need to secure a 75% mortgage.
- Help to Buy - Wales is available on homes up to the value of £300,000.

The Help to Buy – Wales scheme is available for first-time buyers and existing homeowners looking to buy their brand-new home in Wales. It is available on homes up to the value of £300,000.

The Help to Buy – Wales scheme has been extended until the 31st of March 2025. The 19th of December 2025 is the final date for any legal completion.

There are some restrictions under the Help to Buy – Wales schemes, such as:
- The home you buy through the scheme needs to be your only one
- You should live in it and not rent it out
- If you already own a home, you need to sell it before applying for Help to Buy - Wales
- You can’t use Help to Buy – Wales in conjunction with the Part Exchange scheme
- Any mortgage you have outside the Help to Buy – Wales needs to be a repayment mortgage
- The home you buy must be EPC rated B or above

From April 2023, Help to Buy – Wales is available on brand-new homes up to the value of £300,000.

With the Help to Buy – Wales scheme, you can buy your new home with a 5% deposit.

You can borrow up to 20% of the property’s value.

The Help to Buy – Wales scheme is equity-free for the first five years. However, a monthly management fee of £1 applies until the loan is repaid.

You’ll need to repay the loan within 25 years or earlier if you sell your home.
