Live the life

Located midway between Preston and Blackpool in Lancashire, Kirkham is a small town with lots to offer families of all ages. Whether you’re looking for great education, kid-friendly attractions or beautiful outdoor landscapes, there’s something for everyone close to your new home in Kirkham.

Things to see and do

Although Kirkham is a small town, there’s plenty to see and do in the local area, whether you’re visiting the refurbished town library, getting fit at the swimming pool or relaxing in one of the traditional pubs. Kirkham also hosts an annual Club Day, when the town’s streets are brought to life with colourful processions.

Blackpool is only a short drive away from Kirkham, where you can get an adrenaline rush at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, visit Madame Tussaud's and see the annual Illuminations light show. If you enjoy taking a walk in the great outdoors, you can stroll along Lytham St Annes Beach, discover local history at Lytham Hall, and spot wildlife at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre.

For families, there are lots of great attractions to keep the little ones entertained, including the West Lancashire Light Railway and Ribble Steam Railway. Older children and grown ups will love getting active at Blackpool Laser Tag, Ramp City skatepark and Ascent Trampoline Park.

Education

Whether you have school-age children or plan to start a family in the near future, it’s worth finding out more about local schools before you move. The Willows Catholic Primary School, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Our Lady’s Catholic High School and All Hallows Catholic High School are all rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, while Kirkham Grammar School, The Kingsfold Christian School and Hope House School offer independent education.

For older children or adults thinking about studying for a degree or taking a vocational course, Blackpool and the Fylde College offers further and higher education, and the University of Central Lancashire is based nearby in Preston.

Getting to Kirkham

Kirkham is located just off the A583 and close to the M55, while Kirkham and Wesham station is only a 15 minute walk or less than a 5 minute drive from the town centre. The town is a 20-minute drive or 15 minute train journey from Blackpool, and just under 20 minutes by car or 10 minutes by train from Preston, convenient if you’re commuting for work.

From Kirkham and Wesham Station, the journey to Manchester takes one hour 10 minutes by train, while the drive takes one hour depending on traffic. Blackpool Airport is a 20-minute drive from the town, ideal for holidays and business trips abroad.
