Dyce is a north westerly suburb of Aberdeen, around 10 minutes from the city centre by train and a short drive from towns like Inverurie and Ellon. The area has excellent transport links by road, rail and air, making new homes in Aberdeen popular with commuting professionals and families. 

Transport links

With good road links and its own railway station on the Aberdeen to Inverness Line, Dyce has convenient transport links for commuters. For international and domestic travel, Dyce is also home to Aberdeen Airport.

Aberdeen city centre is 20 minutes away from Dyce by car or just over 10 minutes by train. Inverness can be reached in two hours and five minutes by train or two hours and 20 minutes by car, while Dundee is an hour and 25 minutes away travelling via the A90. Edinburgh is two hours and 30 minutes away by car, while Glasgow can be reached in two hours and 40 minutes.

The quickest route to London is by plane from Aberdeen Airport, with the journey lasting around one hour and 30 minutes. By plane, Manchester is an hour and 20 minutes away, and Birmingham can be reached in an hour and 30 minutes.

Situated within the City of Aberdeen, residents of Dyce have a wide range of attractions and facilities on their doorstep, including historic sights, entertainment venues and family days out.

Museums in Aberdeen include the Zoology Museum and Botanic Garden, Aberdeen Maritime Museum, The Tolbooth Museum, Marischal Museum and Gordon Highlanders Museum. For interactive family fun, Satrosphere Science Centre has hands-on exhibits, shows and workshops for people of all ages.

Historic attractions nearby include Castle Fraser, Tolquhon Castle, Crathes Castle Garden and Estate and Dunnottar Castle.

There are a number of parks within a short distance of Dyce, including Seaton Park, Hazlehead Park and Duthie Park and Winter Gardens. Balmedie Country Park is home to the flat, sandy Balmedie Beach, which is around five miles from the city.

For sports fans, Aberdeen FC play in the Scottish Premiership at Pittodrie Stadium. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round or two at Craibstone Golf Course, Auchmill Golf Course or Newmachar Golf Club, while extreme sports are catered for at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre and Transition Extreme.

Other places of interest in the local area include Wynford Farm Playbarn, Codonas Amusement Park, The Den and The Glen, and Doonies Farm. For evening entertainment, the city is home to His Majesty’s Theatre and Music Hall Aberdeen.

The suburb is home to Dyce Primary School and Dyce Academy. The University of Aberdeen provides higher education in the city.
