New Homes in Exeter FAQs?

  • Enjoying an excellent location close to the south coast, Exeter could be the perfect place to live if you want to combine the benefits of city life with a naturally beautiful setting.
  • Around 10 miles inland from the coast, there are lots of beaches and coastal walks within a short drive of the city centre. If you’re looking for things to do in the heart of town then Exeter Cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery are must-sees.

Dive below street level to take a tour of the city’s 14th-century underground passages, go for a much brighter stroll around Northernhay Gardens on the northern side of Rougemont Castle, and squeeze your way down the narrow Parliament Street for some great photo opportunities. If you have little ones, then treat them to an action-packed day at Crealy Theme Park just outside the city centre.
  • When it’s time for your kids to learn rather than play, there are a host of excellent local schools for them to attend. These include primaries Ladysmith Junior School, Exwick Heights Primary School and Stoke Hill Junior School, which have all been rated as outstanding or good by Ofsted.

For older children options close to the city include West Exe School or St James School, or for independent schools Exeter School, Maynard School or Stover School are great considerations.
  • Exeter has strong road, rail and air links, making it easily accessible from other parts of the UK, as well as destinations abroad. It’s served by the M5 motorway, which begins just to the south of the city and makes its way north towards Bristol and beyond. The main train station is Exeter St David's, while the airport’s around five miles east of the city centre.
