Dive below street level to take a tour of the city’s 14th-century tunnels, go for a much brighter stroll around Northernhay Gardens on the northern side of Rougemont Castle, and squeeze your way down the narrow Parliament Street for some great photo opportunities. If you have little ones, then treat them to an action-packed day at Crealy Theme Park just outside the city centre.
Education
When it’s time for your kids to learn rather than play, there are a host of excellent local schools for them to attend. These include primaries Ellen Tinkham School in Pinhoe, Exwick Heights Primary School and Stoke Hill Infants and Nursery School, which have all been rated as outstanding by Ofsted.
If you live in Pinhoe then children can progress to Ellen Tinkham’s secondary school, while Ottery St Mary’s King’s School, the central Maynard School and Exeter School are other great options, the latter two of which are independents.

It’s served by the M5 motorway, which begins just to the south of the city and makes its way north towards Bristol and beyond. The main train station is Exeter Central, while the airport’s around five miles east of the city centre.
The Exeter property scene
Exeter has a booming property market, and has become popular among Londoners looking to leave the capital for a more relaxed, spacious way of life. Little compromise is made with respect to things like dining out though, meaning houses on the outskirts of the city such as the 2, 3 and 4 beds off Tithebarn Lane are very much in demand.
Contemporary homes along Chudleigh Road in Alphington are also popular, while Tiverton’s Post Hill is a great option if you’re looking for a stylish - or even colourful - 2, 3 or 4 bed semi with a golf club and country park on your doorstep. Wherever you decide to settle down, don’t miss offers such as our Movemaker scheme, which could save you thousands of pounds when you move into one of our expertly designed new homes.
