  • Midlothian has good transport links by road and rail, with the A68, A7, A701 and A702 providing quick routes into Edinburgh. The City of Edinburgh Bypass also connects the area quickly to the city. Railway stations including Shawfair, Eskbank, Newtongrange and Gorebridge are on the Borders Railway Line, a scenic route connecting the capital with the Scottish borders.

    A journey from Dalkeith to Edinburgh takes around 20 minutes by car, while Gorebridge is 30 minutes away from the capital depending on traffic. From Eskbank Station, the train journey into Edinburgh Waverley takes just under 20 minutes.

    For international travel, Midlothian is around 20 minutes away from Edinburgh Airport.

    For family days out, there are lots of places to visit in Midlothian including the National Mining Museum, Loanhead Memorial Park, and Roslin Glen Country Park. Edinburgh is also close enough for day-trips where you can explore Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat and the Scottish National Gallery.
