With Glasgow and all the cultural, leisure and entertainment on offer in Scotland’s biggest city just a short drive away, there’s plenty to keep you occupied closer to home too. Langlands Moss Local Nature Reserve, Calderglen Country Park and James Hamilton Heritage Park with its water sports are all close by, while you can tire out the little ones at Wonder World Soft Play.

There are some very good schools in East Kilbride if you have young children to think of. St Kenneth’s Primary is close to the town centre and scores as excellent or very good across the board with Education Scotland, while Kirktonholme Primary and Murray Primary are other good options close to the heart of town.
For older children, St Ninian’s High School in Giffnock to the west of the centre is highly regarded, along with Clarkston’s Williamwood High School and the central St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High School. -
East Kilbride lies at the meeting point of the A725 and A726 roads, which head east and west towards the M74 and M77 respectively. The main train station on Torrance Road offers services to Glasgow which take around half an hour, which is a similar journey to the city’s international airport by car. Edinburgh meanwhile is less than an hour’s drive away along the M8.
