Live the Coatbridge life

Whether it’s the easy access to Glasgow, the natural scenery of the surrounding area or the wealth of attractions on offer in the town centre, there are lots of reasons to buy a house in Coatbridge. We can help you get the most value possible out of your new home too, thanks to offers such as the First Home Fund, where The Scottish Government will provide an interest free equity loan of up to £25,000.

Things to see and do in Coatbridge

Two of the town centre’s top attractions offer very different experiences, with trips to the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life delivering a somewhat slower pace than the Time Capsule Waterpark. Both are great places to visit in their own right though.

On the outskirts of town, you’ll find beautiful landscapes at Strathclyde Country Park, Drumpellier Country Park and Mosswater Nature Reserve. Watch animals being fed and take in a range of exhibits while enjoying a stroll at Palacerigg Country Park. Spot blooming flowers as you walk the dog at Gartcosh Local Nature Reserve and don’t miss the impressive views from Dechmont Hill.

Education

If you’re looking for a central primary school for your kids, Drumpark Primary ranks highly among the local options. Another option is Greenhill Primary, which is rated as either good or very good across the board by Education Scotland. Sikeside Primary School is to the south east of the town centre and also gets a decent write-up, particularly for the quality of its nursery class.

Cardinal Newman High School is a few miles south of the centre and a good option for older children, while St Ambrose High School lies on the western outskirts of town. If you live in the Uddingston area to the south east, you may find yourself in the catchment area for the local grammar school. Meanwhile, Coatbridge High School has a great central location.

Coatbridge transport links

Coatbridge Central is the town’s main train station on W Canal Street, although the Sunnyside, Blairhill, Coatdyke and Whifflet stations are all close to the heart of town too. Trains to Glasgow take just 20 minutes, while there are also buses which head over to the city and serve the local area. If you have a car, Coatbridge provides excellent access to the M8, M73 and M74 motorways.

The Coatbridge property scene

House prices in Coatbridge have seen some excellent growth in recent years, thanks to nearby Glasgow’s continued emergence as a modern cultural hotspot. Now is the time to get on board with this property boom, and there are some great new homes you can buy in the area.

Take a look at the spacious 4 bedroom detached houses close to Carnbroe on the southern fringes of town, or choose between modern 3 or 4 beds next to Drumpellier Golf Club to the west.  Whatever you opt for, make sure you get the best deal you possibly can by choosing one of our great offers such as our Part Exchange initiative, where we can act as a guaranteed buyer on an existing home you own.
