On the outskirts of town, you’ll find beautiful landscapes at Strathclyde Country Park, Drumpellier Country Park and Mosswater Nature Reserve. Watch animals being fed and take in a range of exhibits while enjoying a stroll at Palacerigg Country Park. Spot blooming flowers as you walk the dog at Gartcosh Local Nature Reserve and don’t miss the impressive views from Dechmont Hill.

If you’re looking for a central primary school for your kids, Drumpark Primary ranks highly among the local options. Another option is Greenhill Primary, which is rated as either good or very good across the board by Education Scotland. Sikeside Primary School is to the south east of the town centre and also gets a decent write-up, particularly for the quality of its nursery class.

If you live in the Uddingston area to the south east, you may find yourself in the catchment area for the local grammar school. Meanwhile, Coatbridge High School has a great central location.
