If you enjoy exploring the local history, Leeds Castle is only a short drive away from Allington Castle, while the village is also within easy reach of Maidstone Museum and Art Gallery. For a family day out, you can take your children to the Cheeky Dino Play Centre, get up close and personal to birds of prey at the Kent Owl Academy, or take a stroll around Mote Park or Clare Park.

For sports lovers, Cobtree Manor Park Golf Course is just down the road from your new home in Allington, perfect for a leisurely weekend stroll. If you prefer spectating, you can cheer on Maidstone FC at The Gallagher Stadium. For sporting activities with a difference, you can go ten pin bowling at Hollywood Bowl Maidstone, or racing at Buckmore Park Karting in nearby Chatham.

If you’re moving to a new home in Allington with young children, it’s good to know there are plenty of excellent schools to choose from. Allington Primary School is rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted, while St. Michael's Church of England Infant School and St. Helens Montessori Independent School are also top-rated.

For your older children, Maidstone is home to a campus of the MidKent College, and the University of Kent is also within driving distance.

Getting to Allington

Allington is located along the A20 to the west of Maidstone. A short 10 minute drive will get you to the village from the centre of Maidstone, or a 30 minute walk if you fancy some exercise.

Although there is no train station in the village, there are three in Maidstone. The journey from Maidstone West or Maidstone Barracks stations to Tonbridge takes around 30 minutes, while the journey to Strood in the opposite direction takes around 25 minutes. From Maidstone East, can take you to London Victoria or Charing Cross in just one hour.

When it’s time for a holiday, it's only 40 minutes by car to get to both Gatwick Airport and the Euro Tunnel in Folkestone from Allington. Dover is a 50 minute drive away, with regular ferry services to mainland Europe.
