The historic Tickhill Castle is the town’s most notable landmark, and has a rich heritage stretching back to the 11th century. There are lots of natural attractions to explore in the area, including the picturesque Langold Country Park. As well as walks around the lake, there’s also a large kids’ playground you can make the most of.
The Daneshill Lakes are just to the south east of town, offering more walks in a beautiful environment. From Maltby Low Common to Anston Stones Wood and Potteric Carr Nature Reserve, don’t miss Idle Valley Nature Reserve either. Sheffield and all its great entertainment and leisure options is also close at hand.

The town has a couple of top primary schools to choose between, with St Mary’s CofE home to a nursery and rated as good by Ofsted. Tickhill Estfeld Primary School goes one better, and is ranked as outstanding by the education board. At secondary level, the closest school to the heart of town is Serlby Park Academy a few miles east, while Rossington All Saints Academy is also close by.

The A1(M) passes just to the east of Tickhill, giving the town superb access to the national motorway network. You can also use the A631 to head west to Sheffield in less than half an hour. It’s around double that to get to the Steel City on public transport, as you have to catch a bus to Doncaster before taking a train to Sheffield. Tickhill doesn’t have its own train station, but there are plenty of local bus services you can travel on.
