Forces Help to Buy
Helping those in the Armed Forces on to the property ladder in conjunction with Help to Buy.
Forces Help to Buy is a deposit loan scheme from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) for regular Armed Forces members. It has been extended until 31st December 2022.
How it works
The scheme aims to make it easier for Britain’s regular Armed Forces personnel, by enabling successful applicants to borrow their 5% deposit from the MOD.
They could also take advantage of Help to Buy (subject to eligibility, terms & conditions) – the popular scheme that has already helped so many onto the property ladder across the UK. The scheme provides the necessary boost to secure a 75% mortgage with a 20% Help to Buy equity loan funded by Government.
How much could I borrow?
The scheme offers an interest free loan to applicants of up to 50% of their salary, with a maximum of £25,000. The loan is repayable in monthly installments over the term and the typical amounts per rank are listed below:

Private |
£10,800 |
Sergeant |
£15,000 |
Corporal |
£13,200 |
