  Recognised as the 'Gateway to the Goyt Valley', Whaley Bridge is beautifully situated at the head of the Peak Forest Canal. Set around a conservation area and the Grade II* listed Transhipment Warehouse, formerly an important transfer station for limestone shipped across the UK. The town's aquatic heritage is celebrated in June and known as ‘Whaley Water Weekend’. The town hosts a good choice of small, independent shops selling all sorts, from bikes and special gifts to fine wine and locally-produced food. There’s a selection of friendly pubs, restaurants and cafés to be enjoyed and a Farmers' Market is held monthly. Within easy walking distance to Toddbrook Reservoir - a scenic spot for fishing, sailing, canoeing and walking. Only a short drive away to the natural wonders of Goyt Valley, with its reservoirs and wooded hillsides, is the ideal location for longer walks and exploring the great outdoors.
