Things to see and do in Wallyford

Neighbouring Edinburgh is one of the most exciting, culturally rich cities you can spend time in across the UK, and indeed Europe. You don’t even need to leave the immediate area to have a great time though, thanks to places like Levenhall Links Leisure Park, the Musselburgh Lagoons and a selection of local museums.

Then there are the beaches, golf courses and coastal trails perfect for walks and bike rides. To the south of the village you can explore Dalkeith Country Park and go hiking in the Pentland Hills, or forge your way further from town through the Scottish Lowlands to surround yourself in more incredible natural landscapes.

The local school for younger children is Wallyford Primary on Futures Way, which was rebuilt in 2019 and has received good inspection reports in recent years. There’s also a new secondary school to look forward to in the area, built to complement the lauded Musselburgh Grammar School as the popularity of the local area continues to grow.

Wallyford transport links

Wallyford train station is just off the Loan in the north of the village and provides services to Edinburgh which whisk you into the heart of the Scottish capital in just 10 minutes. Driving to the city takes a little longer along the A1, which heads east along the coast and branches off onto the Edinburgh Bypass to the west, giving you quick and easy access to the M8 motorway. There are also local buses you can use to get around, while Edinburgh Airport is 15 miles away.

The Wallyford property scene

There’s been an explosion of new homes in the area over recent years, leading to a vibrant property market and rising prices. Indeed, the EH21 postcode district has proven to be one of the most valuable areas in Edinburgh in terms of investment.

It’s no use waiting around to buy a house in Wallyford, and you can secure your home in the EH21 area through a collection of beautifully designed 3 and 4 bedroom semi and detached homes off the Loan, just steps from the train station and less than a mile from the coast.

Whether this sounds perfect for you or you’d like to be even closer to the sea in Prestonpans or further inland in Ormiston, don’t miss offers such as our Part Exchange deal to get the most from your next move.
