New Homes in Somerset
Live the life
Located in South West England and referred to by the Saxons as the ‘land of the summer people’, Somerset has something for everyone.
Buying a new home in Somerset provides coastal scenery, lively market towns, a national park and a rich history. It also has great transport links connecting it to the rest of the country.
Things to see and do
The national park of Exmoor and no less than three areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty will all be on your doorstep when you move here.
Exmoor is made up of ancient woodlands, mountains, valleys and lovely waterfalls. Wildlife lovers will enjoy spotting Exmoor ponies, bats and wild red deer. Designated as Europe’s first Dark Skies reserve, you’ll be able to pick out constellations and maybe even spot a shooting star here.
The Cheddar Gorge is another great spot. As Britain’s largest gorge, it rises up 450ft and was created by melted Ice Age waters over millions of years. Cox’s Cave is another highlight, where you can venture deep underground and discover a crystalline grotto with calcite sculptures, fountains and pools.
The city of Bath in Somerset provides lovely architecture to explore, along with the ancient Roman baths. Bathe in the city’s warm spa waters or enjoy shopping in its boutiques. Several museums will keep history fans busy, and there are a great selection of restaurants and bars to choose from.
There are several schools available in the area, giving families plenty of choice. The University of Bath, and Bath Spa University, are two choices for those hoping to study at degree level.
