Things to see and do in Towcester

Silverstone Circuit is known around the world for its Formula One heritage, but there are other meetings and events at the track throughout the year. You’ll find the pace of things a little slower at Towcester Museum and Bury Mount, a designated Scheduled Ancient Monument in the heart of town.

Take a relaxing stroll through the six-acre Stoke Bruerne Brick Pits nature reserve, walk along the Grand Union Canal, or enjoy a cup of tea at Gayton Marina. You’ll also find a selection of local golf courses and Buckingham Thick Copse National Nature Reserve all close to home.

Education

There are two primary schools in town which have been rated as good by Ofsted. Towcester CofE’s catchment area is towards the east of town, while Nicholas Hawksmoor Primary’s is to the west. If you live in the heart of town, you should qualify for both.

When it comes to local secondary schools, Towcester’s residents have a great option.  Sponne School Brackley Road is classed as outstanding by Ofsted, and has a large catchment area, which could be perfect if you live just out of town.

Towcester transport links

Towcester lies at the meeting point of the A5 and A43 roads, which give you easy access to places like Northampton and Milton Keynes. The former is just a 15-minute drive away, while it’s not much longer to the latter. The nearest train station is around nine miles away in Northampton, but the town has a central bus and coach station which offers services to local places and spots further from town.

The Towcester property scene

With average house prices significantly higher than the UK average, Towcester has a strong property market which has seen some excellent growth in recent years. This is a great area to buy a house in, and you can do so in nearby Fairfields. Here you’ll find everything from 2 bedroom maisonette-style homes perfect for first time buyers, to large 4 bed family homes with detached garages.

If you’re looking at Towcester, or nearby neighbourhoods like Brackley and Overstone, don’t miss our Movemaker and Part Exchange offers, which could save you a great deal of time, effort and money.
