With one of the largest and oldest market squares in England, a market is held every Tuesday to Saturday here. With everything from antiques to fresh produce, you’ll also find all your high street favourites in the town centre. Abington Park is a lovely and popular place to visit. Home to the museum as well as sports facilities, lakes and a garden for the blind; below the surface there are archaeological remains of the old medieval village.

There are several family attractions in Northamptonshire. A day out can be enjoyed at Catanger llamas, where you’ll trek through the countryside next to a llama that’ll carry your rucksack through bridleways, country lanes and farm tracks.

You can enjoy a spot of racing at Silverstone, Rockingham or Santa Pod, while the Northampton & Lamport Railway is a steam and heritage railway, where you can enjoy rides through the countryside.

Education

You’ll find a wide variety of schools for children of all ages ranging from primary and secondary schools, to numerous colleges, making the area ideal for families. The University of Northampton is also situated here, for those looking for higher education.

The central location of Northamptonshire means it’s easily accessible from many destinations across the UK, by rail, road and air.

Northamptonshire is surrounded by several of England’s key roads, along with having the M1 and A14 running through it. The M6, M40 and M45 give access to the west of the county, while the A1 runs along the east of Northamptonshire.

Several services offer direct connections from Northamptonshire. East Midland trains offers services to Corby, Kettering, Market Harborough and Wellingborough, while London Midland runs trains to Northampton, Long Buckby and Milton Keynes.

Virgin Trains offers high-speed journeys to Northampton, Rugby and Milton Keynes. London Euston can be reached from Northampton in just 55 minutes.

Several airports are within easy reach including Birmingham International (52 minutes), Coventry (49 minutes) and Nottingham East Midlands (57 minutes). From here you can enjoy a selection of domestic and international flights.
