Things to see and do

Solihull boasts 1500 acres of parks, open space and Green Belt which gives it the nickname of “Town in Country”. There are many cycling and walking routes in and around the countryside surrounding the town making it the ideal location for families that like to make the most of the great outdoors.

The family fun doesn’t stop there, with plenty of attractions in the local vicinity including Umberslade Farm Park, tours at the local Jaguar Land Rover Factory, Blue Ice Rink, The National Motorcycle Museum, National Conference Centre, and the newly refurbished Arts Centre.

Just outside Solihull are many small rural villages that run alongside the Stratford Upon Avon canal. Not only is this a lovely walk, you’ll also find plenty of excellent restaurants and gastro pubs perfect for the foodies in the family.

Education

For families planning on moving to Solihull, it’s great to know there are several outstanding schools in the area including Knowle C of E Primary Academy, Shirley Heath Junior School, St. Augustine’s Catholic Primary School, Tudor Grange Academy, St. Peter’s Catholic School and Specialist Science College, and Hazel Oak School.

Due to its location in between Birmingham and Coventry, anyone in the family planning on studying for a degree from your new home in Solihull will be close to both the University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick.

Getting to Solihull

With main roads passing near or through the town, Solihull is well connected if you’re travelling to see family and friends or commuting. The M42 will connect you to Birmingham in 25 minutes, while Warwick is just under half an hour away on the M40. You can reach Oxford in just over an hour and London in just over two, both via the M40.

The town is served by Solihull Railway Station, enabling commuters to reach Birmingham New Street in under half an hour. The journey to Warwick will take you around 25 minutes, Oxford can be reached in 60 minutes with a change at Banbury, and there is a direct service into London Marylebone with a journey time of between an hour and a half and two hours.

When it’s time to enjoy a well-earned holiday, your new home in Solihull will have the benefit of being just a 10-minute drive from Birmingham International Airport.
