The borough of Corby is located in Northamptonshire near Kettering, Rutland, Harborough and East Northamptonshire.
Once known as ‘little Scotland’ due to the large number of Scottish workers that came to the area for employment in its steelwork industry, this heritage continues to this day.
The accent of the area – ‘Corbyrite’ is described by some as being close to Glaswegian, and there are many Scottish social and sports clubs. Some stores sell Scottish products, while an annual Highland event is held in Corby, which showcases Scottish sports, music and dancing.

The town has two football teams, Corby Town FC, in the Southern League Premier and Stewarts and Lloyds Corby FC, who play in the United Counties League Premier Division.

For those arriving in by car, Corby is situated on the A43, A427 and A6003 and is just six miles from the A14 at Kettering. If arriving by train, Corby train station benefits from the East Midlands service which runs hourly services to London St Pancras via Kettering and Wellingborough. If you’re flying into the area, there are four major airports within a two hour drive including Birmingham, Stansted, East Midlands and Luton.
