Hatfield History
Boasting a notable history in aerospace engineering, a large aircraft factory was built here and produced aeroplanes for the Second World War, including the Mosquito Fighter Bomber and the Vampire. The site was closed in 1993, yet its history is embedded in local streets and pub names. Hatfield has two parts; the old town and the new town. The new town was built following the Second World War, creating a new town centre and room for further expansion.
